Skinfood Rice Mask Wash Off Review!

Why hello there! Did you miss me? It seems like ages since I've last blogged! I have since started professional school, and I feel like I am constantly studying and reviewing! The hard work has been very rewarding though. I'm going to share with you my thoughts on the Skinfood Rice Mask Wash Off!

I got this product from a past monthly subscription box, The 3B Box, or Beauty Beyond Borders. I have posted some first impressions and done unboxing videos in the past if "3B Box" sounds vaguely familiar to you. (I haven't done any in the past few months, trying to get back on schedule with that!) I have been enjoying the subscription box! It features 4-5 Asian cosmetics and skincare products each month, and it costs $12/month!

Onto this product review! I received this product in the July 3B Box. Skinfood is a popular Korean brand that uses natural ingredients and produce (veggies!) as the main focal point of their products to keep our skin healthy! The special ingredient in this product is, as you can guess, rice!

A wash-off mask that transforms skin into a pure and soft texture, and contains rice bran water.

This product is in a really sturdy yogurt-looking container with a twist off lid. It has a faint floral scent; it kind of reminds me of your typical body lotion scent with a hit of floral undertones, if that makes sense. Though the scent is not overwhelming, it kind of makes me feel a bit nauseated every time I initially open the container.

The "mask" has little bits of rice which are surprisingly really gentle on the skin. It was not abrasive or harsh at all. It is really hydrating as well! The rice are the little "bubbles" looking things.
This is to be used after cleansing, and you are to massage it on your face and leave it there for 10-15 minutes before washing off.

I was worried that massaging it would be too harsh on my skin, but it feels like some of the rice dissolves as I massage it into my skin. It feels absolutely lovely on the skin! When I first used it, I thought it was going to actually dry up and kind of "set" like clay masks and such but it actually leaves an oily, kind of greasy residue before it's washed off. The picture below shows how my skin looks after 15-30 minutes. You can see that it's shiny! If you don't like that kind of feeling, proceed with caution!
After it's all said and done and I rinse off the mask, my skin feels amazing! It does not leave any kind of oily residue. My skin feels soft and supple! The exfoliating rice removes dead skin, minimizes the appearance of pores, and transforms my dull skin into a brighter more rejuvenated appearance. I have read that it claims to whiten skin, but I don't think I use it often enough or have used it enough to see truth in that claim. I believe that whitening skin takes a longer time than just a couple of months unless the product is designed for "bleaching" the skin. While that is the case, I do believe that this mask helps with uneven skin tones and have seen slight improvements after use.

Key Ingredient:
Rice water: (from label: Oryza Sativa bran water). Rice water has been used for its healing benefits. It has been said to change the texture and clarity of your skin. It can smooth out your skin as well as brighten dark spots. (Source)

Overall Thoughts:
I think this was a very generous product to have been included in a 3B Box. The product has a nice floral scent, though I am still on the fence about it since it makes me feel a little nauseous. It exfoliates but it's not harsh on the skin. This mask removes dead skin and minimizes the appearance of pores. I love how it makes my skin feel after I wash off the mask. For the 10-15 minutes though, it feels oily and greasy (avoid touching face!). Overall, I love how it makes my skin look and feel. 9/10!

I hope you enjoyed the review! Check out 3B Box if you're looking for a new monthly subscription box! Have a lovely week!
